Why this site exists
Local SEO has an honesty problem. The people who most need straightforward advice — the plumber between jobs, the dentist opening a second practice, the café owner told to “just get more reviews” — are the same people targeted with guaranteed rankings, secret hacks, and invoices for citation blasts that do nothing.
2localseo.com is our attempt at the opposite: a reference library that tells you what is verifiable (from Google’s own documentation), what is well-supported practitioner knowledge (named studies, labeled by type), and what is genuinely uncertain — because plenty of local SEO is.
What we publish
- Deep guides on the disciplines that determine local visibility: Google Business Profile, rankings, citations and NAP, reviews, local links, technical and on-page SEO, schema, multi-location operations, and AI-driven local discovery.
- Tools and templates — audit checklists, tracking sheets, response frameworks — free, no email wall.
- Case studies that label their evidence and admit what didn’t work.
- Honest updates when Google changes something that matters to your listing.
How we work
Every guide is written by the editorial team, checked against primary sources, dated, and re-verified on a published cadence (Google Business Profile pages monthly — features change often; pillars quarterly). We don’t accept guest posts, we don’t publish sponsored articles dressed as guides, and we don’t recommend anything we wouldn’t do for a business we cared about.
Our full commitments — sourcing rules, corrections policy, conflict-of-interest handling — are in the editorial policy.
Who’s behind it
2localseo is an independent publication run by a small editorial team with hands-on experience in local search: setting up and rescuing Business Profiles, cleaning up citation data, building review processes, and reporting on all of it to skeptical business owners. We’re practitioners writing for practitioners and owner-operators — not an agency fishing for clients.
Contact: Contact the editors — we read everything, and we credit readers who catch errors.
What we will never do
Promise you the #1 spot. Sell “rankings in 30 days.” Recommend fake reviews, review gating, keyword-stuffed business names, or fake locations. If a tactic violates Google’s spam and Business Profile policies, we’ll explain why it’s a violation and what the compliant alternative is — because shortcuts in local search tend to end in suspensions, and that’s a far more expensive lesson than reading one honest guide.
