Sourcing standards
- Primary sources first. Claims about how Google products work cite Google’s own documentation (Search Central, Business Profile Help, policy pages) and link to them.
- Practitioner evidence is labeled. Where we rely on industry experience or published studies by named practitioners, we say so and describe the strength of evidence: strong, moderate, or contested. Correlation is never presented as causation.
- No unsourced statistics. Any number we publish links to where it came from, or it gets cut.
- Dates are honest. Every guide shows a publication date and a “last verified” date. We only change the verified date when we actually re-checked the content — not as a freshness trick.
Review process
- Guides are drafted, then edited against a pre-publish checklist covering accuracy, completeness, internal links, accessibility, and metadata.
- Factual sections touching Google products are re-verified monthly (Business Profile features change often); other pillars are re-verified at least quarterly.
- Major rewrites are noted on the page. We don’t silently reverse earlier recommendations without saying what changed and why.
Corrections
We publish corrections openly. If we get something wrong:
- We fix it in the article.
- We add a dated correction note at the bottom of the page describing what changed, unless the fix is purely typographical.
- Readers who report significant errors are thanked by name (with permission) in the note.
To report an error, contact the editors.
Independence & conflicts of interest
- We accept no guest posts, no sponsored articles, and no paid links.
- When this site runs advertising or uses affiliate links (see the disclosure page), monetization never determines editorial conclusions. We publish neutral and negative takes on tools and services, including any we might be compensated for.
- Affiliate links, where present, are disclosed inline and marked with
rel="sponsored".
AI use
We use AI tools in our workflow — including AI-generated illustrations (GPT Image 2) — under the rules on the disclosure page. AI-drafted text is treated as a first draft only: every published sentence is human-edited, fact-checked against sources, and signed off by the editorial team. We do not publish unedited AI output, and we do not use AI to fabricate quotes, statistics, reviews, or sources.
What we won’t publish
Content that instructs readers to violate platform policies: fake reviews, review gating, fake Business Profiles, keyword-stuffed names, doorway pages, or manufactured location spam. Where these come up, we cover them as compliance risks and point to the compliant alternative.
